Volunteer at P.S. 198!
The PTA is seeking volunteers to assist with various events and initiatives! The following committees offer opportunities for parents to get involved. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email our PTA via 02M198PA@schools.nyc.gov. Parents can also run for an officer position on the PTA Executive Board during our October elections.
1. Events Committee
● Volunteers form sub-committees to plan and execute events such as Morning Mingle Parent Mixers, Readathon, Falloween Carnival, Clothing Swap, Picture Day, Gaga Night, S.T.E.A.M. Night, Book Fair, Literacy Night, International Festival, Staff Appreciation Week, Fun Run, Spring Social & Auction, and Field Day
2. Enrichment, Field Trip, and Guest Speaker Committee
● Research and schedule vendors, programs, trips, and speakers to enhance students’ educational experience in school, off campus, and beyond
3. Early Bird and Front Office Volunteer Pools
● Early Bird Volunteer Pool: Assist with tasks during arrival (8-8:30am), such as setting up events, staffing information tables, rolling out Lost & Found racks, and selling Bulldogs merchandise
● Front Office Volunteer Pool: Assist parent coordinator and front office staff with errands and events around the building during the school day
4. Lunch Monitors
● Assist school office staff with monitoring the cafeteria during lunch periods
5. Fundraising Committee
● Pursue grants, fundraising opportunities, and discounts with local businesses
● Coordinate with school staff regarding wish lists
6. Staff Appreciation Committee
● Plan events and treats to celebrate and support our school staff around the winter holidays, Staff Appreciation Week, and at the end of the year
7. Communications Committee
● Serve as a class parent, coordinate class parents
● Write emails and Instagram posts to remind families of upcoming events and information
●. Translate communications so all families can stay in the loop
8. Merchandise Committee
● Order, stock, and maintain inventory of Bulldogs merchandise
● Sell Bulldogs gear at events, online, and in the yard leading up to Spirit Days
9. Fifth Grade Committee
● Plan fifth grade activities, such as a class trip, end-of-year party, and graduation
● Run fifth grade fundraisers, such as bake sales and popcorn sale
● Create fifth grade swag, such as yearbooks and T-shirts
10. Courtyard Beautification Committee
● Maintain planters in inner courtyard
● Facilitate class-related gardening activities
11. Tech Committee
● Manage PTA website
●. Manage online sales for various events and merchandise
12. Design Committee
● Create fliers, graphics, posters, banners, videos, and other content to enhance school events and marketing
13. Audit Committee
● Non-signatories on account review the PTA’s financial documents, such as checks issued, bank statements, and DOE financial reports in June
