All qualified students who meet the guidelines for a school bus or free Metro Card designated distances from PS198 are entitled to a MetroCard or use of the yellow school bus system. Please contact Danielle Santana at 212-289-3702, ext. 1172 or 347-563-4481 or  for information about these services.

When a child is assigned to a bus route, please make note of the route and bus number of your child’s bus. While bus drivers are legally permitted to drop off children whether or not the child’s parent/caregiver is present at the bus stop, most drivers will keep the child on the bus and continue the route and bring the child back to the stop at a later time, or bring the child back to school.

To avoid any issues, you should introduce yourself to the driver on the first day, find out his/her drop-off procedure if the parent/caregiver is late and get his/her cell phone number if available.

Please note that only pre-authorized students are allowed on bus. Children who are not registered for a yellow school bus may not travel with bus children for after school playdates.
