Beacon is a free, DYCD-funded after school program hosted in our school but space is limited and slots are filled via lottery. Their program runs through the entire school year - starting on Monday, September 16, and ending June 13, 2025.
They serve grades K-5 and only PS 198 and PS 77 students.
Their program is daily on Mondays-Fridays from 2:30-6 p.m. with their dismissal beginning at 5:30 p.m. each day. They require that students attend at least 4 out of 5 days per week and stay for the duration of the program daily to meet DYCD attendance policies.
The registration window for Beacon begins TODAY, 7/22/24; and the deadline to apply for this year’s lottery will be next Tuesday, 7/30/24. A new application is needed every year for all interested families and it must be filled out in full as they cannot accept incomplete applications.
Please find the application form below.
Completed applications can be scanned and e-mailed to Beacon198@goddard.org or yperez@goddard.org
For a paper copy of the application, you may pick it up and/or drop it off at the Beacon Office (Room 107) at the PS 6 Summer Rising site, located at 45 E 81st St. between Park Ave. and Madison Ave.
If anyone should need help with your application to scan, print, etc. you can e-mail our Parent Coordinator, Raychel, at rmanko@schools.nyc.gov to set up an appointment for assistance in the PS 198 office.
Beacon staff will send out results of the lottery to confirm whether or not families have a spot by mid-August.
Families may continue to submit applications after July to be added to a waitlist for their child’s grade. If there is availability remaining, Beacon will reach out to families on the waitlist to communicate if they can offer a seat.
If you have Beacon-specific questions, please e-mail director, Maribel Mejia at mmejia@isaacscenter.org or assistant Director, Yvette Perez at yperez@goddard.org.
