Cell Phones, Toys/Games and Jewelry

Cell Phones are not permitted in NYC Public Schools

Students must NOT bring cell phones to school. The school is not responsible for the theft, loss, or breakage of cell phones. If you should need to communicate with your child while he/she is in school, kindly call the school at 212 289-3702. If your child should need to call you, the child should request to call you and he/she will be directed to the main office; please note there should be a valid reason to contact you.

If a member of staff should observe your child with a cell phone, the staff member will confiscate the cell phone. You should make arrangements to pick up the phone on the very next day. Thereafter, the phone will be sent to Glen Rasmussen, Director of Safety for NYC Public Schools in Manhattan.

Toys and Games

Children should not bring valuable toys and games to school. The school will not be responsible for replacing items of this sort that are lost, stolen or broken in school. It is the parent’s responsibility that his/her child adheres to this school policy. Games such as Ipods, Iphones, PSP’s, DS’s, other handheld games, Pokemon cards, or any other trading cards are NOT PERMITTED at school. Bringing toys/games/electronic devices lead to conflicts at school. Please discuss with your child that these items are NOT allowed at school and will be confiscated.

Jewelry

Parents should be cautious about sending students with valuable jewelry to school. Accidents occur often where the item is either lost or broken as a result of yard play. The school will not be responsible for replacing items of this sort that are lost, stolen or broken in school.
