School is almost out, and you know what that means: It’s time for the summer reading challenge! Students, come join us. Not only will it build up your reading confidence–you can win a medal!
- Read whatever you like this summer, as often as you can. Read books, magazines, comics, e-books, Brain Pop, Jr, newspapers, anything!
- Fill out the log for each day that you do any reading at all, even if it’s only for a few minutes. (A few minutes a day will add up to a lot by the end of the summer!) Ask your parent or adult reading sponsor to sign your log at the end of each week.
- At the end of the summer, add up all your weekly reading minutes and record the Grand Total on the scorecard on the last page of this booklet.
- Visit a local library 5 times to earn 100 bonus minutes!
Earn a certificate if you read 500 – 999 minutes total (15-20 minutes a day x 5 days a week for 9 weeks)
Earn a medal if you read 1,000+ minutes total (25+ minutes a day x 5 days a week for 9 weeks)
